Guest Chef Franck
Mathevet at Still River Café Aug
25th
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER –
Our inspiration to open the Still River
Café, in no small part, came from
the experience of writing Paradise
Found and getting to know the chefs
and restaurant owners that make the St.
Barths dining experience so exquisite.
It was a particular joy
for us to befriend Franck Mathevet and Denis
Chevalier from the Wall House, and it is
with great delight that we announce that
Franck Mathevet, chef extraordinaire and
owner of the Wall House Restaurant, will
be visiting us on August 25, 2007 to help
us create an unforgettable “Festival
of St. Barthélemy” gala dinner—a
holiday in France marked by fireworks, the
ringing of bells and, of course, wonderful
food.

Logistics --
Getting to the Still River
Café: We are located just 6 miles
off I-84 (exits 73 or 74) and 35 minutes
from Hartford, 50 minutes from Providence,
an hour from downtown Boston and 2-1/2 hours
from New York City. If you are flying, you
should be able to find flights into Bradley
Airport in Hartford, T.F. Greene Airport
in Providence or Logan Airport in Boston.
Lodging: There are several
options for lodging depending on what you
are looking for by way of accommodations.
The “Cultural Visitor”
-- Those looking for a cultural experience
could stay in one of the many excellent
hotels in Boston and enjoy that city’s
numerous museums and historical sites.
The “High-Roller /
Let the Good Times Roll Visitor” –
What happens in Connecticut stays in Connecticut.
Okay. . . Connecticut is not Vegas, but
the two largest casinos in the Northeast--
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun -- are located
45 minutes away and are a lot of fun. Great
spas, nice hotels, etc.
The “Quiet Weekend
in the Country Visitor” – Eastford
is located in what is known as The Quiet
Corner of Connecticut. As such, those looking
for the quintessential New England experience
will find it in one of our local inns and
B&Bs. We recommend the Tolland Inn and
the Elias Child House. In Sturbridge Village
(just 15 minutes away) you will find a number
of hotels and inns including the historic
Publick House and several chain hotels as
well. The area boasts many antique shops,
orchards, vineyards and lots of lakes, rivers
and hiking trails.
